Vancouver, BC – October 28, 2013 - The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada announced the Governor in Council appointment of Graham Shantz to its Board of Directors.
“We are delighted to have Mr. Shantz join our Board,” said Dr. John McArthur, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “He brings a wealth of experience in East and Southeast Asia that will be a tremendous asset to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.”
Graham Shantz is the Director General, North Asia with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development. Mr. Shantz joined Canada’s Department of External Affairs and International Trade in 1990. He has served as Canadian Ambassador to Spain and Andorra from 2009 to 2012. He has held various positions at the Department's headquarters, such as Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Strategic Planning Branch; Director General, Policy Planning Bureau; Chief Negotiator for Canada’s Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements, and Deputy Director, Investment Trade Policy Division. He has also served abroad in Beijing and Jakarta. He received his BA (Economics) from Goshen College, Indiana and his MA (International Affairs) from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University.
