Mitel and Philsar Link With Matsushita to Develop Wireless Communications Device

Mitel Corp. of Kanata and Philstar Semiconductor Inc. of Nepean, have reached an agreement with Matsushita Electronic Components Co. of Japan to jointly develop a device to be used for wireless communications equipment. Under the terms of the deal, Mitel, which specializes in making devices for communications equipment, will develop control circuits for the projects, while Philsar, a communications start-up, will manufacture circuits for transmitting and receiving high-frequency signals. Matsushita will develop modules to house the circuitry, based on the Bluetooth wireless communication technology, a global standard for next-generation wireless communication between different types of mobile terminals.
